Panji Across SEA
Love That Transcends Time
An NUS Libraries Project in 360imx
Panji is a classic Javanese tale that was originally written around 13th Century, a time when Majapahit Kingdom dominated the southern part of Southeast Asia.
Due to its universal appeal, the tale has been adapted many times in several Southeast Asian countries, and its manuscripts subsequently became UNESCO Resgistered Heritage in 2017.
This project aims to adapt the beloved tale into a series of interactive contents, Augmented Reality, and 3D games shown through immersive 360° technology at the newly established NUS Libraries' 360imx.
Adapted from one of the most well-known versions of Panji tales, "Hikayat Panji Semirang", which is part of NUS Libraries' Singapore-Malaysia Collection, the immersive 3D storytelling will be shown exclusively from 22 August to 2 September 2022.
Join us at Central Library Level 4 and explore remote places, traditional snacks, Batik patterns, and Gamelan music performed by NUS’ Singa Nglaras in these special showings!
